CHAPTER III

REPORTS ON INDIVIDUAL CASES

During the period covered in this Annual Report, the Commission held its 82nd and 83rd sessions, at which a number of petitions were received concerning alleged violations of human rights recognized in the American Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man and the American Convention on Human Rights.  The Commission opened 145 individual cases between January 20, 1992 and March 12, 1993.  This brings the total number of individual cases being processed at the present time to 894.

The Commission is presenting the following cases to the General Assembly for consideration.  These cases satisfy the requirements that the Commission's Statute and Regulations stipulate for their publication.

Accordingly, the reports transcribed below, which concern both the admissibility of the cases and the rulings on the merits of the case, appear in the year in which they were approved by the Commission, following the alphabetic order of the country to which they refer.
